To coincide with the longer daylight hours following the clock change this weekend Newbury’s Newtown Road Recycling Centre will be open from 8.30am until 7.30pm from April 1.

West Berkshire Council said that around 20 per cent of the black bag waste sorted at the site could be recycled if separated properly and encourage residents to sort their rubbish before they visit.

There are a wide range of recycling banks at the site collecting different materials including scrap metal, batteries, wood and furniture. For a complete list of items that can be recycled visit: www.westberks.gov.uk/waste
