Suspended prison sentence for Thatcham drug dealer

AN 18-year-old Thatcham drug dealer who was caught intending to supply more than £18,000 worth of drugs has received a suspended prison sentence.

Police seized two bin liners containing 992 grams and 82.58 grams of cannabis respectively when they raided William Jewell's home in The Hollands under the misuse of drugs act in March this year.

They also found cash, scales and other items indicating drug dealing at the address.

Officers said that the combined street value of the cannabis was approximately £15,180.

Police had also raided Jewell's home in December last year; where they seized cash and 236.5 grams of herbal cannabis, worth approximately £3380 on the street.

Jewell pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply cannabis - a class B drug controlled drug - and was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, on Friday March 27.

He was also sentenced to 180 hours of unpaid work and a one year supervision order.

PC David Clifford-Smith said: “The warrants executed across this period have taken a significant amount of drugs off the streets of Thatcham, which is a positive for the Thatcham community.”
