A SUSPECTED drunk driver was arrested after her car collided with a Vauxhall Zafira carrying a family-of-four in Thatcham last night.

The woman, 34, was arrested by police on suspicion of being drunk in charge after her Suzuki Swift collided head on with the Vauxhall in Floral Way.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.30pm with firefighters helping to free the mother driving the Vauxhall, who was then taken to hospital by paramedics.

The father and two children escaped unharmed.

The female driver of the Suzuki also escaped uninjured and has been bailed until December 19.

According to fire crews at the scene both cars were written off in the incident.
