Tadley prepare for Aldershot test

TADLEY CALLEVA have the chance of claiming a major scalp after bringing Aldershot Town to Barlows Park on Tuesday night in the second round of the Hampshire Senior Cup.

The Shots - back in the Vanarama National League after a brief stint back in league football - will head to Tadley for the first time after Danny Dolan’s side shook off a Saturday league nightmare to beat Combined Counties League Hartley Wintney after a penalty shoot-out in their midweek first round tie.

“To be honest, “ said manager Danny Dolan, “it’s one we could do without right now and I would rather have swapped it for three points on Saturday.

“But we’ll give it a go. We seem to do alright in this cup.”

Tadley warmed up in style with a 6-0 mauling of Woodley United in the FA Vase on Saturday when Brett Denham and Ryan Stephens helped themselves to two goals apiece with Grant Powell and James Tennant the other marksmen. Tadley now travel to Chertsey Town on October 3 after their 5-1 win over Tuffley Rovers.

Getting a reward against Aldershot on Tuesday will depend upon what side The Shots put out  but the Hampshire club have confirmed that several members of the first team squad will join the majority of Lee Collier’s under 19 Academy squad at Barlows Park, stiffening the ranks as Aldershot's youngsters are also in action in an FA Cup tie at Burnham the following evening.
