Bideford 1 Hungerford Town 2

HUNGERFORD moved into the Evo Stik League Southern’s Premier Division top four after ending their lean run in North Devon by coming from behind to win with a late own goal.

Bideford went ahead after 37 minutes with Matt Bye’s corner was turned home by Ben Wood, but Hungerford were back on terms in first half stoppage time when Matt Collins’ corner was reclaimed by Nat Jarvis, who cut across the box before playing in Stefan Brown to score.

Paul Strudley saved from Matt Andrew early in the second period before Hungerford threw on all three substitutes on the hour mark and took a firmer grip, eventually snatching the winner after 83 minutes when Alan O’Brien streaked away on the break and his driven cross was diverted into his own net by skipper Bye for the decider.

Hungerford Town: Strudley; Horgan, Bormadman, Day, John; Tyler, Rusby, Colins, O’Brien; Jarvis, Brown. Subs: Goodger, Draycott, Clark, Rees, Jones.
