Another league break for Town

THATCHAM Town have to take another weekend break from Hellenic League action to pursue the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup when they go to Division One East side Chalfont Wasps on Saturday.

Having tucked themselves in behind the leaders following Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at Highworth Town, Town will continue having to play catch-up with their league fixtures, wich will resume with the visit of Brimscombe and Thrupp on Tuesday night.

“It’s almost frustrating,” said co-manager Gareth Thomas. “We want a good run in the league to get some points on the table.”

But it does give Thomas and Danny Robinson the chance to keep most of their squad in action, although Tom Melledew, Ian Davies, Mark James and Jordan Seaward all miss Saturday’s tie while Josh Helmore returns after three weeks out.
