TADLEY CALLEVA made a Sunday afternoon exit from the FA Cup after seeming to be in control of their tie with Hellenic League Premier Division Highworth in Wiltshire.

They deserved their first half lead when Brett Denham collected Calvin Kalinga’s pass and battled his way into the box to beat goalkeeper Matt Scholefield.

Sam Hamilton was twice denied by the goalkeeper, who also did well to thwart Kalinga before Highworth netted a fluke leveller when Fabian McCarthy’s cross caught in the wind and deceived goalkeeper Tom Hindmarsh.

Skipper Scott Kinge had a great chance to head his side back into the lead but Scholefield kept out his point-blank header and the home side responded by netting the winner when defender Tom Cole was allowed a  free header from Keiron Gleed’s free kick.

Tadley’s cup venture ended on another disappointing note when centre back Spencer Barlow was sent off for a deliberate handball.
