England call-up for Newbury golfer

NEWBURY and Crookham golfer David Niven has been selected for the England seniors team to take part in two international championships.

Niven, runner-up in the English Senior Championship and the South East Group’s Alan Hobson Trophy, last year tied for fourth place in the Senior Amateur Championship and helped Berks, Bucks and Oxon to win the Senior County Championship.

He will be in the England team for the European Senior Men’s Team Championship that will be held at Diners Golf and Country Club in Slovenia, from August 30 until September 3, and till then line up for England in the Senior Men’s Home Internationals to be played at Machynys Peninsula in Wales from September 20-22.
