Blues aim for happy New Year

Newbury Blues' Ryan Davis in action against Swindon last season

NEWBURY BLUES bid to set off on a new run after seeing their 15-match unbeaten streak ended by Royal Wootton Bassett last week.

They will also be bidding to put one over on Wiltshire sides when they go to Swindon on Saturday, boosted by the return of several key players who missed that defeat.

“The winning run is history and now need to rebuild and start another one,” said head coach Lee Goodall.

Returning to the ranks this week are Robbie Drysdale, Iain Herriott, Mike Walker and Josh Bartlett, with Chris Guyatt and Ollie Spanswick coming through games for the Stags last week as only the injured Alex Millar and suspended Josh Winfield miss out.

“We won at Swindon last season,” said Goodall, “and I’m glad we are going there early in the season when conditions will suit us.”
