Bulls the bait for Blues

Mike Walker - scored a hat-trick against Windsor last week

NEWBURY BLUES have to negotiate two more games before a brief break leads into a showdown with the two clubs sandwiching their second place in South West One East.

They go to newly promoted Banbury Bulls on Saturday and then entertain relegated and struggling Chippenham before returning to face third-placed Grove and leaders Maidenhead in successive weeks.

But the first task is to overcome these next two, and they will take a near full-strength squad to Banbury knowing that they need to win to maintain the pressure at the top.

“We know this is a potential banana skin at Banbury,” said head coach Lee Goodall, “but we are focusing on these two games and looking at two wins and trying to get the maximum 10 points to keep the pressure on Maidenhead.”

Blues will be without Ollie Spanswick and Dylan Stewart, but Josh Winfield, Alex Millar, Jamie Futcher and Josh Love are all available in an otherwise full roster.
