Ilsley girls celebrate a great summer

WEST ILSLEY’S under 15 girls raised a little late summer sunshine by winning the Berkshire Youth Cricket League.

Ilsley are among the smaller clubs, but has succeeded in forming a girls team and they proved their worth by winning the league ahead of established clubs including Finchampstead, Henley, Maidenhead and Bray, Wokingham, Wargrave and Pangbourne and Whitchurch.

Coached by Pete Blatchley, West Ilsley won four of their six games to win a four-way ‘countback’ for the crown with Juliet Banks with Lottie Aird topping their individual scores with 48 and 52 not out respectively against Henley, while the bowling honours were shared between Juliet Banks, Millie Quaintance and Suzi Beaumont.
