THATCHAM TOWN go into a real ‘must-win’ game when Thame United visit Waterside Park on Saturday, preparing to pounce on any further mistakes by The Kingfishers.
Last week’s 5-2 defeat at Bracknell has left Town ripe for toppling in the Hellenic League’s Premier Division, and although Town will remain top of the table regardless of any result on Saturday, the forces are gathering behind them with Thame only four points behind and with five matches in hand.
Thame also need a win, having lost on their previous league outing - at Bracknell - another of the teams closing in fast on a Thatcham side that has played more league games than any other team.
Thatcham made a somewhat shaky return to winning form in midweek in the wake of that Bracknell defeat, beating bottom of the table Burnham 2-1 with goals from Josh Helmore and Shane Cooper-Clark and they also drew 3-3 when they went to Thame in September.
TADLEY CALLEVA face a major challenge to close a 12-point gap if they want to secure a top three promotion place in Division One of the Sydenhams Wessex League.
Last week’s 4-1 home defeat at the hands of leaders Laverstoke and Ford lave a major task, but Tadley have been building for the future by blooding in a number of youngsters and are likely to do the same when they entertain second to bottom East Cowes Vics at Barlows Park on Saturday.
