Carol concert will boost cancer and renal unit appeal

THE 15th annual Macmillan and Newbury Cancer Care Christmas Concert takes place on Saturday.

The popular event will be held at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, from 6pm.

The concert features the Reading Phoenix Choir and the readers will include NHS England’s chief executive officer Simon Stevens, the Rev Jonathan Edwards, actor Adam Kotz, the wife of Newbury MP Richard, Zoe Benyon, Vicki Woods and John Baxter.

This year’s concert will be in aid of the Rosemary Appeal, the £4.5m project to fund The Rosemary Centre – due to open next summer – which will provide state-of-the-art cancer treatment and renal dialysis at the West Berkshire Community Hospital.

The complex will be named The Rosemary Centre in honour of Rosemary Rooke, whose original bequest led to the building of the community hospital.

Tickets for the concert, priced £18, are available from Camp Hopson’s customer services department on the second floor of the store in Northbrook Street, Newbury.
