Aldermaston based Southern Maintenance Solutions is building for the future

Maintenance firm Southern Maintenance Solutions (SMS) has expanded its team as the company continues to grow its business and respond to increasing demand for its full range of FM services.

Alongside this expansion, the company has upgraded its fleet of vehicles, all of which now bear the company's refreshed branding and updated its website.

Taking on the role of service and maintenance engineer for commercial gas installations is Scott Miles, he is joined by Ross Craughwell, in a similar role for the AC (air conditioning) side of the business and Alex Ward-Horn, a fully qualified service and maintenance engineer. The company's proven apprentice scheme has also been expanded with Harry Evans-Rusher, joining the team whilst also studying for his L2 NVQ. Tracy Maguire-Brown has joined to develop SMS' company-wide training and compliance delivery as part of its commitment to professional development for all staff.

Managing Director Kevin Tarbox said: "We are delighted to welcome these engineers and support staff to the team and look forward to helping them develop their careers with us. At the same time, we are investing in additional training and qualifications for all our staff, both with external courses and our new in-house e-learning facility. "As awareness of environmental issues is high on the public agenda, the company is also delighted that earlier this year, Marie Tarbox, Administration and Compliance Manager, was awarded her NEBOSH qualification in Environmental Management. Aligned with this was the company's accreditation of ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management, in May 2021.

Customers have not been forgotten either as the company is introducing new project management software. "We have been working closely with our software provider to develop a better understanding of the management system we use called Simpro. Part of this includes giving customers access to a portal so that they can access reports for PPM (planned, preventative maintenance), defects and test history, see invoices paid, due and a statement, view associated site records and completed jobs and their full contract details," explained Marie, who is overseeing the introduction.
