West Berkshire Athena Network launches taster events for women in business to get together
The West Berks Athena Network is launching two new ‘Pop in and Meet Up’ taster events for businesswomen and owners across West Berkshire, to allow women in business the opportunity to experience a less formal Athena meeting.
The events will take place on Tuesday, September 21, and Tuesday, October 26, online between 11am and noon.
Designed specifically for businesswomen who are interested in widening their professional network and the benefits to them and their business, the meet-ups are expected to be well attended.
Visitors will have the chance to speak to some existing Athena members, as well as other visiting businesswomen.
They will also hear from a guest speaker at each event.
The first, Louise Pengilley, will be presenting on September 21 on ‘How to learn communication techniques that will result in you winning
more clients’.
“September is the ideal time to kickstart a business,” said regional director Caroline Snowdon.
“When speaking to women in business locally, I am often told how they would like to access more support and ideas in a professional setting to help them grow their businesses and spread their nets wider. This is at the heart of my Athena groups.”
There are currently four Athena groups in West Berkshire with members from a wide range of industry sectors, such as lifestyle, legal and retail and businesses of all sizes from sole traders and entrepreneurs to larger organisations.
“With the analogy of the ‘net’,’’ said Mrs Snowdon, “it is true to say that by being part of an Athena group, members have made more contacts, received referrals, found support and exchanged numerous ideas, helping them and their businesses to blossom.
“I am always amazed at the energy and expertise in my groups.”
