Jones Robinson team make a splash for charities including Naomi House & Jacksplace and Newbury Cancer Care

A determined team from estate agents Jones Robinson completed more than 38.7 miles during an ultramarathon swim, to raise money for local charities, writes Grace Dowdney.

The team's original target was 34 miles, which is the equivalent of 2,735 lengths of a pool.

But they surpassed this and by the end of the day had completed an astounding 3,114 lengths.

“It was a fantastic day,” said Charlie Jones, sales manager at the Newbury branch.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the team, not just for the distance they swam, but for the energy, determination, and commitment they brought to supporting these incredible charities.”

So far, the company has raised nearly £7,000 and donations are still pouring in.

A spokesperson for the company added: “On a hot summer’s day, with temperatures reaching 26°C, our team came together to exceed expectations and show real commitment to a great cause.

“Every contribution helps these organisations continue their essential work.”

The swim was in support of five local charities, which all play a vital role in the communities Jones Robinson is part of.

Julia’s House and Naomi House & Jacksplace are two of the charities supported by the swim.

Their work helps provide care and support for children and young adults who have life-limiting conditions.

Newbury Cancer Care supports individuals and families affected both emotionally and practically by cancer.

Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance work to deliver critical emergency medical response by air and road across the region.

Play2Give offers support, therapy, and play for children and families facing illness or hardship.

The company thanked David Lloyd Newbury for providing its outdoor pool for the endeavor, as well as to everyone who has donated so far.

“This event is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities we serve,” the company added.

“Keep an eye out for more fundraising initiatives over the coming months.”
