Newbury Building Society named Best Building Society at the British Bank Awards 2021
The society also won Best Specialist Mortgage Provider at the same awards.
Now in their seventh year, the British Bank Awards is an annual campaign to find the best products, newest innovations and most trusted financial service providers.
The results are based on feedback received from more than 90,000 consumers and businesses through the Smart Money People review website.
As part of the voting process, consumers feed back on a range of factors, including the customer experience, whether they have felt fairly treated, or even what improvements they would like to see.
Newbury Building Society chief executive Roland Gardner said: “I am delighted we have been awarded the Best Building Society and the Best Specialist Mortgage Provider awards.
"Awards which are entirely based on customer feedback are particularly fulfilling and to win in both categories is something in which the whole team at Newbury can justifiably be very proud.
"The awards are the outcome of the consistent high levels of customer service our employees provide and to the incredible trust and support we have from our members.”
Newbury Building Society won the new and very competitive Best Building Society category against other finalists Darlington Building Society, Dudley Building Society, Ecology Building Society, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, Saffron Building Society, Melton Building Society and Vernon Building Society.
The other finalists in the Best Specialist Mortgage Provider category were Darlington Building Society, Ecology Building Society, Melton Building Society and Vernon Building Society
Smart Money People chief executive Jacqueline Dewey said: “The British Bank Awards 2021 has been fantastic. We’ve had a great mix of winners this year from companies retaining their title for another year to new entrants winning for the first time. Voting was incredibly close, and the competition between the companies was fierce.
The British Bank Awards are a real signal to companies about how they are doing in the eyes of those who matter most, their customers. And a big thank you should go to all the customers who took the time to have their say and cast their vote.”
