Newbury MP Laura Farris visits Berkshire NFU representatives to discuss all things farming




Berkshire NFU member Rob Waterston hosted Laura Farris MP (Newbury) at Welford Park.

They were joined by Newbury NFU branch chairman and farmer David Illsley plus Newbury NFU Group Secretary Gary Pope.

The meeting discussed future trade deals, carbon offsetting and the importance of educating children and young people about farming and food.

The MP heard from farmers about modern precision farming techniques and industry ambitions to reach net zero by 2040. Farmers also talked Laura Farris through the Australia trade deal and its implications for UK farmers, urging her to scrutinise future trade deals against the potential economic impacts on UK agriculture.
