Northcroft lido’s midnight swim celebrated a record annual attendance
Northcroft’s lido celebrated a record-breaking year with a midnight swim under the stars.
The special Farewell to the Summer event took place on Tuesday, September 30, after a very impressive 2025.
The Olympic-sized pool opened for the year in April and since then more than 50,000 swimmers took a dip.
This year’s record attendance eclipses last season’s high and shines a light on what is to come for next year.
The 150-year-old facility in Newbury, run by Everyone Active in partnership with West Berkshire Council, stayed open until midnight on its final day, with the local community taking a last dip while under the moonlight.
Richard May, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “Hosting this event was the perfect way to round off the summer season.
“Evening swimming brings a special atmosphere and it proved a memorable final night that was much enjoyed by our customers.
“The countdown now starts to next year.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have welcomed so many eager outdoor swimmers to Northcroft Leisure Centre and lido in 2025.
“It’s a joy for us to have such loyal support from our local community.”
