Solicitors raise £9,000 for Naomi House
THE team at Gardner Leader solicitors, based in Newbury, Thatcham and Maidenhead, presented their chosen charity, Naomi House & Jacksplace, with a cheque for £9,183.98 after 18 months of fundraising.
Naomi House is a charity supporting children and young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in central southern England and has been Gardner Leader’s chosen charity for the past year-and-a-half.
During that time, Gardner Leader has been involved in various exciting ways to raise more than £9,000, including two sponsored skydives, numerous charity runs, a triathlon, quizzes, raffles, a 1980s fancy dress day, partners in the stocks event, a pamper evening and two separate firm-wide charity bag collections.
Jill McDonagh from Naomi House said: “We are very thankful to the Gardner Leader team for all their dedication and hard work in raising such a substantial amount of money for the charity. This will help purchase equipment for our facilities and will help to make a significant difference in the support we can provide the children and their families.”
However, Gardner Leader’s dedicated team of staff did not get to rest, as following a firm-wide vote to select their next firm-wide charity in June, Gardner Leader’s fundraising efforts continue in support of The Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust.
Every year for the last few years, the firm has selected a local charity to support.
In June, staff across all three offices put forward their charity of choice to the firm's corporate social responsibility (CSR) team, who then drew up a shortlist. This year, The Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust won the most staff votes.
The Cancer Care Trust has significant relevance to Gardner Leader after one of its team died from cancer earlier this year.
Senior associate and head of the CSR Group, Tara McInnes, said: “The staff at Gardner Leader have thoroughly enjoyed raising funds for Naomi House over the last 18 months.
“However, everyone is already excited about planning and getting involved in new fundraising activities for The Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust so we can repeat the success we’ve had with previous charities.
“The whole firm is delighted to be working with such a worthy cause and we look forward to lending our support.”
