EBP’s Destination EXPO offers career advice for West Berkshire students at Newbury College event
More than 1,500 students will get the chance to explore options for their futures as the Destination EXPO careers fair returns next month.
Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Education Business Partnership is once again bringing together businesses and organisations under one roof to inspire and educate the next generation.
The event takes place at Newbury College, on October 12 and more than 70 business from West Berkshire and beyond will be out in force talking about the many roles and opportunities within the area.
There will also be a number of different universities attending, along with further education providers, so students can learn about the variety of courses on offer from university degrees to apprenticeships.
Education Business Partnership CEO, Kate Barrow, said: “We are so delighted here at EBP to be able to plan this exciting event again.
“This is a truly interactive careers exhibition, designed to inspire and inform our young people, and it provides a chance for them to engage with local businesses, at what is a key stage in their decision making about their future career.
“It is especially important in a post-Covid world to give students this face-to-face opportunity to connect, as so many have missed out on so much of this over the last few years.
“We are also delighted that the timing of this event ties in with the 30th anniversary of EBP here in West Berkshire and can’t think of a better way to celebrate and build upon the strong connections we have locally with schools, colleges, businesses and other organisations within the area.”
All West Berkshire state school sixth forms have been invited to the event, along with some year 11s from schools that do not offer a sixth form.
The first session of the day will be a quieter session to accommodate the needs of SEND students, to ensure every student attending gets the most from the event.
After the final school has left the EXPO the EBP will be hosting a birthday celebration at the college.
Local businesses that have worked with the charity over the past 30 years will be joining staff and local dignitaries for the celebration.
The EBP thanked Greenham Trust for being the main funder of the event.
