West Berkshire businesswomen say networking is key for growth
Athena Network runs four group for West Berkshire businesswomen and welcomes new members from all professions.
Businesses have had to find new ways of increasing customers and growth, and networking has proved to be one of the most effective.
Increasingly, businesswomen cite networking as one of the main drivers for their business growth.
The practice of being visible and getting noticed, exchanging ideas and supporting other businesses is paramount.
Regional director of Athena West Berkshire Caroline Snowdon has seen her groups grow over the last year, with new members already joining up for January 2022.
She said: "Now that the festive season is over, it's the perfect time to plan your business growth in 2022 and networking can really make an important contribution to this growth.
"You can make lots of new connections with some inspirational and supportive businesswomen in the West Berks area and take your business to the next level.”
The four Athena West Berks groups are made up of businesswomen from well-established businesses such as solicitors, estate agents and, travel agents, as well as new businesses in areas such as marketing, life coaching, interior design and wellbeing.
Debbie Jacobs set up her business Zest Marketing in 2020 and joined Athena in March 2021.
“I was sceptical about joining a networking group with visions of hard sales pitches and pressurised meetings” she said.
“Athena was the complete opposite. It has given my business much greater visibility and has really helped it grow. I have had lots of referrals, which has meant my client base has continued to grow throughout 2021. I have also loved meeting other members and sharing ideas.”
The four groups – Hungerford, Newbury Central, Newbury West and Newbury East – have continued to attract new members and Mrs Snowdon believes 2022 will be even busier.
She said: “Our monthly meetings will continue to be online, which I think, appeals to the members. The opportunity for face-to-face get togethers is still there; members can organise individual meetings and we have regular social events throughout the year.
"I would particularly like to have new members from the following professions – accountant, IFA, bookkeeper, and VAs.
"If you are interested in finding out more about Athena meetings, you can attend one of the monthly meetings for free. All professions are welcome. “
