ST BARTHOLOMEW’S School winter ball on Friday proved a great success.

A total 290 people attended the ball, held in the school hall and organised by, and for, sixth form pupils, who rose to the occasion by turning  up in evening wear, including tuxedos for the boys and evening dresses for the girls.

“It was quite an achievement that it was run entirely by students, for students,” said deputy head boy Aidan O’Neill, one of the main organisers, along with head girl, Amy Bowen.

Among the helpers was head boy Rory McNeill, who said a centrepiece chandelier, the creative brainchild of pupils Alex and Sam Jarman, was much admired.

“We assembled it together, from a wooden circle and stuck bamboo to it to tie baubles on,” said Rory.

Refreshments for the bash included non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. A photo booth and a DJ spinning sounds helped create a great atmosphere.
