There's no escaping - so you might as well enjoy it

To squeals of delight and groans of despair in roughly equal measure, the month of June is filled with sunshine, flowers – and football.

The 2015/16 UEFA European Championship (or Euro 2016) will be coming to a screen near you very soon now.

Friday 10 June sees the French hosts kick off against Romania. England play Russia the following day.

To put you in the mood and to remind you what football fever is really like, click through our picture gallery from the last time West Berkshire was in the grip of massive football frenzy – the 2006 World Cup.

Let’s all hope for a better result this time.
