This Friday and Saturday sees Newbury racecourse hold the Bet365 festival of jump racing.  There will be much interest in the highlight of Saturday, the 60th Hennessy Gold Cup race.

The prize fund of £200,000 ensures “The Hennessy “ is one of the most prestigious  and sought after prizes in the sport.

First run at Cheltenham in 1957, the Hennessy Gold Cup was transferred to Newbury Racecourse three years later and has run there ever since. Hennessy has been associated with the race from the outset, making it the longest-running commercial horseracing sponsorship.

Racegoers always dress up in their best finery, and there are usually some amazing hats to be seen too.
