Just a few of the comments from visitors to Made in Brimpton, an exhibition which celebrated local talent at Brimpton Village Hall last weekend.

The residents of Brimpton parish had come together to showcase some of the arts and crafts produced in this small corner of West Berkshire.

The exhibition was curated by local artist Alan Harding, who said: “We had hoped to put on an exhibition a year ago to celebrate the end of the Covid Lockdown, but an outbreak of the virus meant that we had to postpone it. We were lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful sunny weekend with even more examples of the great arts and crafts produced in our village.”

Brimpton Parish Council chairman John Hicks said: “Last year, we asked our residents what they had got up to during the lockdown, and were amazed at what we discovered. We have talented weavers, painters and embroiderers who have been working away all this time. We were so impressed that we decided to put on an exhibition to provide a chance for people from Brimpton to showcase their work, and to meet and celebrate.”

The schoolchildren of Brimpton contributed “art on a postcard” as part of an in-school project, and exhibitors and visitors shared coffee and home-made cakes in the sunshine.
