Ian Hislop and Nick Newman tell all at Newbury's Watermill
In a special fundraising event for The Watermill theatre, Ian Hislop and Nick Newman are holding An Audience with... on Tuesday afternoon (March 1, 2pm).
Following recent successes at The Watermill with their plays A Bunch of Amateurs, The Wipers Times and Trial by Laughter, co-writers Ian Hislop and Nick Newman return to talk about their latest project, SPIKE - a new comedy about the life and career of Spike Milligan, currently running at the Bagnor theatre.
From a writing collaboration that began when they were both in their teens at Ardingly College in West Sussex, Ian (writer, journalist, and editor of Private Eye) and Nick (writer and satirical cartoonist) have developed a professional partnership covering more than 30 years.
During this insightful event, the duo will talk about what drew them to Spike Milligan’s story, as well as their approach to collaborative playwriting. Ian and Nick will also be joined by a member of the SPIKE creative team, who will share a ‘behind the scenes’ insight into the process of bringing their ambitious script to life in the rehearsal room.
A great opportunity to hear from Ian and Nick, about the journey they’ve taken to get this absurdly funny play ready for audiences.
