On the Mount

The On the Mount at Wasing festival concludes this weekend. Tonight (Thursday) headliners Jungle are one of the hottest names to emerge in British electronic music for the past decade. The duo comprising of Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland were shortlisted for the 2014 Mercury Prize with their debut self-titled album. Underworld, headlining on Saturday, are a true one-off, just as at home headlining the world’s biggest festivals and events, playing underground techno clubs and warehouses, sound-tracking theatre productions or taking over art galleries. Having cemented their place in the ’90s underground techno scene, the group’s definitive breakthrough came in 1995 with the release of timeless anthem ‘Born Slippy (Nuxx)’, which became the soundtrack of a generation when it was featured in the film Trainspotting. They will be joined at Wasing by Ross From Friends (DJ Set) and Hodge ( DJ Set). https://www.wasing.co.uk/themount

True story of the Horizon scandal.

RABBLE Theatre’s Glitch – The true story of the Post Office scandal opens tonight (Thursday) at The Minghella Theatre, University of Reading and runs to July 6. Pam Stubbs has been sub-postmistress of Barkham Post Office for more than years, respected and loved locally in equal measure. But when unexplained discrepancies start appearing in her accounts, Pam finds herself caught up in one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in British legal history. This new work, specially commissioned by Reading university, is a first-hand account of Pam’s inspirational story. Ahead of the full-scale touring production in 2025, RABBLE Theatre and the University of Reading are pleased to present Glitch, the true story of the Horizon scandal.

Rhod Gilbert bounces back

WHEN life gives comedian Rhod Gilbert lemons... he’s back on the road after receiving treatment for cancer - he's not bitter; he's bouncing back and feeling remarkably zesty. In his last show, The Book of John, Rhod was dealing with some pretty pungent life citrus, and an idiot called John. Little did he know that things were about to turn even more sour! Hilariously dark, passionate, and way too personal, this is typical Gilbert, squeezing every last drop out of life's latest curveballs... with a little help from an old adversary. Rhod Gilbert & The Giant Grapefruit tours to The Anvil, Basingstoke, on Saturday (8pm). Extra date added (May 14, 2025) due to phenomenal demand.
