THE community art exhibition by Creative Communities is once again being held at Arlington Arts in Snelsmore. ‘Identities’ is inspired by their talented artists’ discovery of their creative identities. It runs until July 25.

Creative Communities Art for Wellbeing course is delivered across the West Berkshire community to a range of different people including vulnerable adults.

This years exhibition includes work by two local council-run care homes, three day centres and six of Sovereign Network’s Housing for Older People schemes from Calcot, Burghfield, Theale, Thatcham, Newbury and Hungerford.

Its a real celebration of community creativity at its best. Guest speaker Helen Saxton opened the event and an award was given for a stand out piece of work.

The evening was attended by funders, board members, staff and tutors and most importantly the artists themselves and their friends and families, many of whom had never attended an exhibition in their lives before they started attending Creative Communities courses.

“It is such a joy to see them so proud of what they have achieved,” said Tanya Reid, Creative Communities MD and head of creativity and wellbeing.
