Aldworth artists welcome visitors to their Ridgeway village studio
At last, studios will be opening up all over West Berkshire, North Hampshire and Oxfordshire in coming weeks – take a trip out to them and support our local artists and makers
This weekend Aldworth artists Isobel Pigott and Many Monkcom team up to show their work together in Isobel’s studio as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks - May 15-18 and 21-23, from 11am-5pm.
Isobel and Mandy have been painting together regularly. Within the constraints of the pandemic, they discovered a deep connection for nature and those things within and close to their home environments. They also revisited past work and material, approaching and responding to it in a new and fresh way.
Isobel’s love of colour, shape and pattern remains and she has particularly enjoyed continuing to experiment with paper cut-outs. These have taken a new direction as she re-examines some work from student days, the integration of text and image in art. Using some of her original poetry and adding some new, she has been weaving these in as part of the creative process. She will also be exhibiting some of her oils and pastels.
Mandy Monkcom has a sense of fun, turning to her family and friends in lockdown for colourful socially distanced inspiration. The purpose of her work is to convey humour and humanity from a smaller world view.
"For the safety of all, there will be a one-way system in place and the gallery rooms will be well ventilated. Visitors are asked to wear facemasks and as numbers will be limited in the venue at any one time, you’ll be welcome to relax in the garden while waiting and enjoy the peace and quiet of the local surroundings."
Venue: Field View, Aldworth RG8 9SB
