Australian indie folk duo have played festivals across the world, catch them in Newbury

Saije, an Australian indie folk duo, has garnered positive reviews for their soulful harmonies, dynamic guitar work and percussive breakdowns. Also lauded for heartfelt storytelling which they will be bringing to ACE Space in St Nicolas’ Road on Friday, June 20.

Their songwriting is crafted from the depths; stirring melodies bound together with graceful lyricism, and through multitasking techniques, the pair create a full-bodied sound enriched by flavours from their travels around the globe.

After being awarded Folk Alliance Australia’s Young Artist of the Year 2019-2021, Saije has toured extensively in Australia and throughout Canada in 2020, most recently two 50-plus-date tours across Europe and the UK in 2023 and 2024, playing a plethora of sold-out performances and festival appearances.

“ACE Space normally only present one gig per month,” said Stephen Ottner from ACE Space. “But when Saije approached the team about including Newbury in their third European tour, they were determined to squeeze in a second gig in June.”

Opening the evening will be Butterfly Moon, a dynamic folk acoustic duo. The duo is made up of narrowboat-dwelling couple Ash & Gaz, who spent last year busking across nineteen European countries and playing stages at Glastonbury, Camper Calling and Magic Teapot Festival. Their lives of travel, adventure and connecting with the world, infuse within their music.

Tickets for Saije are £16, available from www.WeGotTickets.com or by emailing events@acespace.org.uk or calling 078911 76940.
