Picking up silver threads at Hampshire silk mill

Picking up the Thread, Basingstoke Creative Stitchers’ new exhibition – now open at Whitchurch Silk Mill and running until March 27 – includes textiles and embroideries created by members, from beginner to expert.

This is the group’s 25th anniversary and to celebrate members have created works which include silver thread.

More than 30 such pieces are on display, as well as a wide range of other pieces.

Originally known as Basingstoke Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild, the group reformed in 2021 to become Basingstoke Creative Stitchers.

They host a series of talks and workshops, as well as members’ days. Meetings take place on the fourth Thursday in the month at Popley Fields Community Centre, Basingstoke. For more information, contact darlingtonejp@hotmail.com

Whitchurch Silk Mill is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10.30am to 5pm, and normal Mill entry applies.
