Friday night triple-header blues 'n' boogie at Newbury's Arlington Arts

A Night of Blues 'n' Boogie this Friday at Arlington Arts should be a great night out for any blues/rock fan, writes Brian Harrington.

It's a triple-header featuring the Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion, a band at the very peak of the British blues scene and winners of multiple accolades, including best female vocals, in the British Blues awards.

Also appearing is Dino Baptiste whose energetic keyboards revolve around his three idols Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Charles, and Mark Harrison, a quirky and distinctive solo artist described as "a stunning guitarist and master storyteller".

Arlington Arts was recently described to me by a singer songwriter who had just performed there as a "gem" of a venue, which "Newbury is very lucky to have". I would concur with that assessment, and add that anyone still feeling hesitant about attending live shows post covid lockdowns can feel confident that there are one-way systems and socially distanced seating in place, along with a range of other measures to help keep everyone safe.

If, like so many others, you have missed seeing live music A Night Of Blues 'n' Boogie could be a great way to get back in to the swing.
