Downland artist offers a 'rewarding day out in the countryside'
Mel Wyatt of Lemanie Limes Art is an emerging artist, holding her second Open Studio, in the beautiful rural location of Brightwalton.
“I’ve loved painting or drawing since a young child, but my journey to take it to the next level as a full-time working artist started in 2020.
“Working in acrylic paint my focus is mostly abstract animal art, either British endangered species or wild animals of the world. Living rurally in Brightwalton, West Berkshire has strongly influenced my love for painting the beauty of nature so I also occasionally paint landscapes.
“As I’m developing and exploring wildlife and nature themes, the composition, colour and texture for my signature style is still evolving.
“I am grateful to be able to work from a purpose-built studio at home, where I live in rural bliss with my husband, teenage daughter and pets.”
Mel’s Open Studio set up: The studio is open to see her working area, materials, works in progress on the easel, painting demonstrations and to answer questions about her painting technique or “just a natter!”.
Part of her house is open for viewing completed works, with refreshments provided. Although there is no obligation to buy art, there are opportunities to purchase originals, prints or greetings cards should the visitor wish to. Special offers can sometimes be found that is only available at the Open Studios event.
“It will be relaxed and informal so visitors can bring friends and children and enjoy the art trails, with rural walks and playground close by, it can be a very rewarding day out.”
