Call-out for volunteers to help at Newbury’s hottest event of the year
HERE’S a great way to soak up the atmosphere of a magical night canalside.
The Corn Exchange is calling out for volunteers to help steward the hottest event of the year…
Ablaze will light up the Kennet and Avon Canal with spectacular fire sculptures and live music for three nights between Friday, September 13, and Sunday, September 15.
As dusk turns to dark, between 7.30pm and 9.45pm, spectators will walk along the route to see 40 floating fire braziers before arriving in Victoria Park for a Fire Garden Spectacle.
Some will remember when Ablaze first came to Newbury in 2013. It was the first production created at the Corn Exchange managed 101 Outdoor Arts National Centre for Arts in Public Space in Greenham prior to its official launch and It returns as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations.
It mesmerised audiences with its display of fire sculptures, transforming the canal and Victoria Park into a realm of flickering braziers and ingenious installations.
Volunteers will need to attend a practical briefing session and be available on at least one of the event nights between 6.30pm and 10.30pm. They must be over 18 or accompanied by an adult.
