Cambridge scholar to give Bach, Mozart and Duruflé recital on Douai Abbey's two magnificent organs

Although Douai Abbey has two magnificent organs in the Abbey Church which are used regularly in services, it's many years since there has been a dedicated organ recital.

However, at at 4 pm on Sunday (July 10) George Gillow will be giving a recital including music by Bach, Mozart and Duruflé on both organs.

George has just finished studying Music at Cambridge where he was Senior Organ Scholar at Clare College. He has given recitals at various Cambridge colleges and elsewhere and he is looking forward to playing at Douai.

Free admission but there will be a retiring collection for expenses.

The Abbey Church houses two pipe organs, a smaller organ of 1978 in an Italian style by Tamburini and a larger organ of 1994 in a modernised English Classical style by Kenneth Tickell. Because of these organs, and especially because of its unique and reverberant acoustics, the Abbey is often used as a recording location by musicians.
