Dogs Trust Newbury has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.

And we’re very pleased to play a little part in making that happen.

Before we bring you this week’s Dog of the Week, I’m really happy to report that since we’ve been highlighting pooches in search of a forever home, a number of them have found just that.

Recently Penny, Ebony, Murphy and Pickles and Gorby have all found new homes, which is great to hear.

Nationwide, the charity currently has 793 dogs that are looking for a family to join.

You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.

And each Sunday newburytoday will feature one of the dogs looking for a new home in West Berkshire.

This week we bring you Leo, a three-year-old Jack Russell terrier cross chihuahua.

The trust said it is looking for a pet-free home for Leo that has a private garden.

They said: “He is a little pocket rocket with a lot of sass and character.

“Leo doesn’t like other dogs very much but is doing excellently with his muzzle training so can still enjoy lots of adventures and quiet walks.

“Leo has lived with children before and we are certain he would love the opportunity to do so again.

“He likes his tennis balls so will need a private garden for some off-lead time.

“Leo is incredibly affectionate and has so much love to give.

“He’s a pleasure to walk and cuddle with.”
