Director steps into Watermill’s Christmas Jungle Book so the show can go on

Director of The Jungle Book, Tom Jackson Greaves, stepped into the role of Mowgli with just a few hours’ notice on Monday 27 December so that families could continue to enjoy the magic of theatre this Christmas.

Tom, who only hours before on Boxing Day was watching the show as an audience member, extended his visit to Newbury to cover for Karishma Young, who plays the role of Mowgli, who was unable to appear due to "covid-related reasons".

The Watermill’s artistic and chief executive Paul Hart said: “We are incredibly grateful to Tom who took to the stage to play the part of Mowgli in The Jungle Book, supported by the rest of our brilliant cast. With Covid-19 causing theatres across the country to close, we feel incredibly thankful for every performance that can go ahead.”

The Jungle Book continues at The Watermill and is available to watch on demand until Friday, December 31, visit watermill.org.uk for more information and tickets.
