The Downe House Music Showcase returns to St John's Church this year, following a break due to the pandemic. The concert, which raises funds for Christian Aid through a retiring collection, is taking place on Sunday, March 6, starting at 5pm.

The concert will include items from the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and the Choirs of Downe House, including the Barnardo’s Senior Choir of the Year 2022 Finalists.

"A dazzling selection of items" is promised, which "as well as delighting those attending, will give the young musicians and choristers the valuable experience of performing to a live audience".

Performing to an enthusiastic and welcoming audience adds an important extra dimension to their learning and practice, and to perform in the excellent acoustics of St John’s Church is a great experience for the musicians.

Prior to the restrictions of the pandemic, the music department at Downe House, the independent school in Cold Ash, had presented for several years their showcase concert at St John’s Church, raising at the same time funds for Christian Aid.

This year, the opportunity to host a concert once again has been taken up with enthusiasm by St John’s and the school all look forward to "another evening of wonderful musical entertainment".
