The Compton Players were delighted to win the new Original Playwrighting Award 2022 at the recent Oxfordshire Drama Network Drama Festival held at the Unicorn Theatre, Abingdon from June 15-18.

Six plays took part over three days, five of which were new original pieces of writing.

The Compton Players were one of three productions chosen to come back and perform again on the gala evening alongside the Oxford Theatre Guild and the Henley Amateur and Operatic Society.

The award was won for In Her Defence, a new play by Compton Player Helen Saxton which premiered last November with the group.

Helen is taking a slightly different version to the Edinburgh Fringe in August; tickets are available for a preview of the show on Thursday, July 14 at Compton Village Hall at 7.30pm.
