Ella Henderson and Sophie Ellis-Bextor kick off Newbury Racecourse Party in the Paddock series
More than 15,500 music fans enjoyed a night of entertainment after racing at Newbury this weekend.
Ella Henderson and Sophie Ellis-Bextor both took to a slightly soggy stage as co-headliners for Newbury Racecourse’s first Party in the Paddock of the summer.
The BRIT award-nominated artists entertained the crowds after the Weatherbys Super Sprint Day on Saturday (July 19), both performing full sets.
Ella Henderson stormed into the UK charts with a Number 1 debut single, Ghost, and album, Chapter One, 11 years ago and has become a multi-platinum selling, billion stream artist.
She has achieved six UK Top 10s as a lead artist, the most recent being ‘React’ with Switch Disco which received a Song of the Year nomination at the 2024 BRIT awards.
With an impressive musical career that spans over 25 years, Sophie Ellis-Bextor has become something of a national treasure since the Covid Lockdown and her kitchen discos.
She has amassed five top 10 albums and eight top 10 singles, with hits including Murder on the Danceflo
Most recently, and after featuring in the epic final scene of Emerald Fennell’s film Saltburn, her beloved 2001 hit Murder on the Dancefloor saw a huge resurgence, charting at Number 2 in the UK Singles Chart and Number 58 In the Billboard Top 100, with the song registering more than 11 billion streams across all social and streaming platforms.
At the end of last year, it was revealed that the track was officially the biggest British female single of 2024.
