First solo equine photography exhibition by former West Berks amateur jockey
Multi award winning equine photographer Karen Bennett is hosting her first solo exhibition of fine art pieces entitled ‘Equine Envy’ tomorrow (Saturday).
Each photograph is a testimony to Karen’s patience and understanding of the horse in its environment.
Taking the time to earn trust and respect between the subject and the photographer has enabled Karen to capture their raw power, tenderness and beauty.
A former amateur jockey, Karen has always been drawn to the romance of horses. Swapping her saddle for her camera allows her to preserve this strong relationship and remain close to her first love. Karen creates each photograph as a story, allowing for communication to build between the image and the viewer. Such is the importance of creating this connection Karen says ‘If the image doesn’t speak to me I won’t use it - no matter how good it is’.
Favouring the drama of an overcast or windy day, Karen takes her time to capture her image in their place of happiness, be that in the field or while they work.
She will be exhibiting a selection of limited edition and open edition prints at Wormstall House, Wickham and is welcoming visitors tomorrow (Saturday) when it is open all day from 10am – 8pm.
