Give pottery a throw at City Arts Newbury
September Ceramics is a chance to see work by a select group of local ceramicists at City Arts in Hampton Road, and if you visit this weekend, September 17 and 18, you'll be able to meet the makers, experience City Arts' new café, see a number of demonstrations and, if you fancy, have a go at throwing a pot with Diana Pattenden (this costs £20 for a half hour session and includes firing and glazing).
You can pre-book a throwing session through the City Arts Website.
Alongside work by more established ceramicists, you'll also be able to see a select group of pieces by schoolchildren and other local potters.
Some of these will also be for sale and prizes will be awarded in three categories: Under 14, 14-18 and 18+, with prizes donated by Bluematchbox Potter's Supplies, The Ugly Duckling Pottery Painting Coffee House and City Arts Newbury.
Judges this year are: Cait Gould - Great Pottery Throwdown contestant and Artists in Residence at the Base; Greenham, and Grant Pratt - owner of Bluematchbox local ceramics supply outlet. A prize for the Exhibitors Favourite and for the Peoples' Favourite will also be awarded - go along and cast your vote.
