Happy swinging this afternoon at Newbury’s Donnington Valley

THE Pete Allen Jazz Band invites Newbury to enjoy an afternoon of Happy Swingin’ Music with the band at The Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa, Oxford Road, this afternoon (Sunday) between 2.30pm and 5pm.

This popular band stars the eponymous Pete - who grew up locally - on clarinet/ saxes/ banjo/vocals, Roger Marks on trombone, Chris Hodgkins on trumpet, James Clemas on piano/ vocals, Dave Hanratty on bass, Jim Newton on drums and Trevor Whiting on saxes.

Joining them is Denny Ilett Jnr, who has been playing professionally since the mid-80s, perfecting a range of guitar styles across jazz, blues, rock and swing that enable him to shine in almost any context.

What a line-up!

Over his 45-year career Pete has played alongside many US jazz legends including Billy Butterfield, Benny Waters, Peanuts Hucko, Bob Wilber and UK jazz stars Kenny Ball, Acker Bilk, George Chisholm, Tommy Burton, Beryl Bryden, Joan Savage, Clinton Ford, Don Lusher and Jack Parnell.
