Crowds turn out for Strictly Come Dancing superstar Anton Du Beke’s Hungerford booksigning
Hungerford Bookshop hosted BBC Strictly Come Dancing superstar Anton Du Beke on Bank Holiday Monday as he signed copies of his debut children's book Code Name Foxtrot.
More than 100 people queued to meet the dancer, with a pair of friends travelling from as far as Birmingham and a couple bringing their dog, named Anton Du Bark.
The star, who also writes novels for adults, was charming and very generous with him time, giving a hug and photo to any fan who wanted one.
The book has a mystery to solve. A spy to catch. A show to save.
This heartwarming adventure from the pen of the Sunday Times bestselling author and ballroom star is full of mystery, friendship, courage and dance.
With gorgeous illustrations by Elisa Paganelli, Code Name Foxtrot will appeal to fans of Ben Miller, Emma Carroll and Michael Morpurgo.
Maybe by Christmas, the war will be over and we'll be back with Mum and Dad… London, 1940: the world is at war and 10-year-old twins Harry and Rosie are evacuated to live with their mysterious great uncle on the stormy Lancashire coast. Missing home, they throw themselves into the local dance show – determined to do their bit and maybe even dance at the famous Blackpool Winter Gardens. But when Harry sees strange lights out on the rocks one night, he and Rosie realize their new home is hiding some huge secrets. Racing to uncover the truth, the twins learn that bravery comes in many forms and even in the worst of times, the show must go on . . .
The book has garnered praise from former Children’s Laureate Jacqueline Wilson: “An exciting adventure with all the speed and style of Anton's dancing.”
