Adam, one half of the Corn Exchange panto writing team with Clare Plested, is also an actor – best known as the dwarf Ori in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy and Cremble in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

His friendship with Sir Ian McKellen, forged on the set of The Hobbit, led to him playing alongside him in the actor’s West End pantomime Mother Goose.

Adam told N2: “For a while now, I’ve been working on this new project inspired by my film career and my work on Newbury panto, and it’s finally happening!

“A Christmas movie I’ve created for Sky.”

Tinsel Town, a comedy directed by Chris Foggin – known for Bank of Dave and Fisherman’s Friends – is officially filming and they’ve just announced the cast.

Kiefer Sutherland and Rebel Wilson lead the incredible lineup, including Derek Jacobi (Gladiator II), Mawaan Rizwan (Juice), Maria Friedman (Unforgotten), Jason Manford (Waterloo Road), Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing), Danny Dyer (Rivals), Ray Fearon (Barbie), Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness), Lucien Laviscount (Emily in Paris), James Lance (Ted Lasso), Meera Syal (The Wheel of Time), Katherine Ryan (The Duchess) and Savannah Lee Smith (Cruel Intentions).

Adam co-wrote Tinsel Town with his friend Frazer Flintham. “We’ve set the film in the fictional town of Stoneford, a name inspired by our hometowns: Frazer’s, Stone, and mine, Hungerford!,” he revealed.

Tinsel Town follows failed Hollywood action star Bradley Mack, played by Sutherland, who ends up in a small, snow-dusted village to star in an eccentric production of Cinderella.

Here, he encounters a cast of local oddballs who slowly come to hold a special place in his heart, including the no-nonsense choreographer Jill (Wilson).

“I’m thrilled to be working back in the UK and with director Chris Foggin,” Sutherland told The Hollywood Reporter. “The cast is fantastic, and I can’t wait to tell this story.”

Director of original film at Sky Julia Stuart said: “We are so proud of this uplifting and charming comedy, and we can’t wait for it to come to Sky Cinema this Christmas.

“It’s feel-good, festive and funny, and we hope will have something for everyone to enjoy.

“We can’t wait to share it with the world later this year.”
