Over the two weeks from Saturday, to Saturday, September 27, the festival showcases the arts, crafts and artisan food and drink from local makers and creators.

The festival opens with a lively craft fair over this first weekend. Surrounding The Base building, visitors will find a bustling market filled with handmade arts and crafts with foot-tapping live music from a number of talented local musicians to complete the festival atmosphere.

Complementing the creative experiences is an array of delicious artisan food and drink, with local producers showcasing their finest offerings alongside the popular onsite café run by Honesty.

With this event being The Base’s biggest fundraiser, there is a suggested donation of just £2 per person, with all proceeds going to The Base Charity, which grants you entry to the fair and free car parking.

During the festival’s Arts and Crafts Fair, visitors will also be able to get a PAWtrait created of their beloved dogs by canine artist Dogs by Jeff.

Taking place at the Berkshire Vet, these sessions are only a short walk from the main event at The Base.

Pre-booking is essential for these sessions, with participants being able to either take their dog in for a live pawtrait or supply a photo for the artist to use as reference.

Throughout the festival, an art exhibition runs daily from 10am to 5pm, the chance to enjoy original works by local artists, with all artwork available to buy. Entry to the exhibition is free, but pre-booking is recommended.

Adding a bit of play and interaction, The Runway Gallery is transformed into a massive chalkboard doodle wall, inviting visitors of all ages to leave their mark and watch the artwork evolve as the festival progresses.

For those eager to try their hand at something new, The Base’s popular taster workshops return for this year. From wire leaf making and mini autumn wreath crafting to pottery throwing, landscape painting, oil painting, crochet and even creative mindfulness sessions, there’s something to spark everyone’s creativity. These popular workshops provide a relaxed, fun environment to explore new skills and get inspired.

Book your space early to avoid disappointment, as these sessions fill up fast.

Special events like Songs and Stories in the Gallery and a dedicated Relaxed Day on September 25 make the festival welcoming and enjoyable for all.

The Festival of Arts and Crafts aims to celebrate community, creativity, and craftsmanship. The event is sponsored by Honestly Group.
