Festival of Lights parade will transform Newbury town centre today
Hundreds of twinkling lanterns will transform Newbury town centre today (Sunday) with the Corn Exchange and 101 Outdoor Arts annual Festival of Light.
This popular winter event brings together the local community to celebrate the festive season.
Lantern holders will gather at the clock tower in Northbrook Street from 4pm, ready for the candle-lit procession to begin at 4.30pm.
The parade travels along Northbrook Street, accompanied by live music from the Reading-based community Samba band Beatroots, before culminating in the Market Place with more live music.
Amid the sea of sustainably made pyramid lanterns, spectators will spot some spectacular, large, intricate shaped lanterns constructed at the popular Lantern Making for the Brave sessions.
The Festival of Light is presented by the Corn Exchange and 101 Outdoor Arts as a part of its free outdoor events programme which is funded by Greenham Trust and Arts Council England.
The Festival of Light will take place at 4pm and is a free, non-ticketed event. Visit www.cornexchangenew.com for more information.
