Local authors showcase could become annual event says Newbury library

Newbury library recently held an Authors Showcase, when 32 local authors set up stall to tell visitors all about their recently-published books.

These included titles for children and adults, with a mixture of stories, poetry and non-fiction books on subjects as varied as photography, music, mental health and local history.

Many of the writers had just published their first book.

Acting libraries manager for West Berkshire Libraries Karen Smith said: “There are a lot of talented writers in West Berkshire.

“We wanted to give them an opportunity to present their work to library visitors and we were pleased that so many supported this.

“We are now considering making the showcase an annual event.
