A good day for local authors at West Berkshire Library
LOCAL authors got face-to-face with the public to promote their books at Newbury library on Saturday in a showcase that included 15-minute author talks and children’s rhyme-time, storytelling and craft.
“Twenty-eight authors attended,” said culture & libraries volunteer officer Rosie Flower. “It went extremely well and we are looking forward to hosting it again next year.”
One of the participating authors, Helen Saxton from East Ilsley, said she found the experience a positive one.
She said: “A big thank-you to Newbury Library for organising this event; it was a great chance for us local authors to connect, share how we approach our work, and swap tips on finding the time to write.
“Storm Burt may have kept a few visitors away, but I still had some really insightful conversations with everyone who made it out.
“Given that my genre is True Crime, I was excited to meet two former police officers; one was a fellow author and the other is now working at the library and who shared some truly fascinating insights into victim psychology.
“I’m already looking forward to next year!”
The date of next year’s showcase is to be confirmed.
